- Abstract
- Clergypersons can provide general pastoral care through sermons and worship in order to address disenfranchised grief and ambiguous losses. The author wrote four sermons and planned four worship services based on those sermons. She charted questions on a Likert continuum, adding open-ended and reflection questions on a second page, and solicited volunteers to participate in the research. Seven worshipers volunteered, and attended four consecutive Sunday services, reflecting, answering questions on the form, and being interviewed. Parishioners learned appropriate ways to interact with those who have experienced losses, and that God does not cause tragedies in our lives.
