Abstract
  • The world's highest rates of suicide and its increase are in Korea. Systematic precautions against suicide in Korea, however, are insufficient compared to other developed countries. In the Korean military, suicide is the number one cause of death, and personal and family wounds caused by suicide are a major and difficult problem. The author researched suicide prevention education for chaplain assistants so that it could be more effective. Many topics were discussed, including what chaplain assistants can strive for in terms of suicide prevention for soldiers who are living together with them in the army. The participating chaplain assistants have come to understand the seriousness of the suicide problem, know effective methods of prevention, and give a positive response that they can be more specifically and actively committed to prevent suicide.
