- Abstract
- The purpose of this project was to develop a Christian education program for use with small groups of prisoners who have shame-based identities. Studies and research into the area of shame are reviewed for their relevance to the development of the program. The program included provision for participants to complete pre- and post- self-evaluation Internalized Shame Scale (ISS) questionnaires. Comparison of the pretest and posttest scores revealed a significant change in the way the group members perceived themselves. It was concluded that the Christian education program focusing on internalized shame lessened the frequency and intensity with which these feelings are experienced.
