- Abstract
- This project was designed to compare the educational performance of African American students in public school to those in private school. The context of this ministry model is a private school at Gravel Run Baptist Church in Dinwiddie, VA. Students were the same age, grade level, culture, and received similar courses of study. Student and parent interviews were also done to obtain deeper insight. After analyzing the results of these comparisons, it is clear that the role of the black church is essential to the assurance of successful education among African American youth.
