Abstract
  • The author studied stories of leadership issues and practices in culturally and racially diverse congregations that have transitioned from a single culture to a multicultural identity. The author found that these congregations that developed a multicultural identity intentionally embraced racial, ethnic, and cultural differences in congregational life. The author's research of these congregations reveals that, racial reconciliation, forgiveness, and healing are prerequisites in order for this kind of transformation to become a reality in congregational life, and the church must be grounded in sound biblical, theological, and spiritual principles.
