  • The purpose of this project is to reclaim Alexander Campbell's theology of obedience and ordinance as a usable resource for the contemporary process of spiritual formation by members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). It combines a research and materials model. Alexander Campbell's theological anthropology and soteriology are researched, and then that material is refashioned into a manual on spiritual formation based on the gospel ordinances. Use of this manual in a congregational setting confirms the thesis that the spiritual heritage of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) remains a usable resource in the process of spiritual formation.
