Abstract
  • The project developed and tested a method for improving pastoral preaching skills. This method involved groups of clergy and laity in the preparation and evaluation of a series of sermons preached by the author over several months. (Sermon videotapes were used to facilitate the clergy evaluation). The author hypothesized that this method would produce measurable improvement in the oral communication, biblical interpretation and relevance of his preaching and that such improvement would substantiate the viability of the method. The evaluative data, both statistical and written, strongly confirmed this hypothesis and served to commend the method to others.
