Abstract
  • The purpose of the practicum was to design a model for confirmation training where seventh grade boys and girls could be involved in total initiation processes where both grace and faith are supporting ingredients in the identity of the Christian. The involvement of the lay leadership of the congregation also led to a sense of renewal in the life of the church. A nine month period of time provided ample opportunity for relationships to develop based on the tradition of the church and with specific people in the local congregation. The design was tested with interviews, observations, and evaluation forms over a period of five years in two different congregations to improve the procedures.
