- Abstract
- This project/thesis explores whether women-church is engaged in the work of transformation. Making the connections between the various patriarchal structures of oppression is the work of transformation. This project/thesis focuses particularly on classism, racism, heterosexism and sexism. The author's personal struggle for liberation from the androcentrism and patriarchy of the Roman Catholic Church is the context of this thesis. The work of several women-church groups and Elisabeth Schussler Fiorenza's reconstruction of early Christian history reveal elements of transformation which can assist women attempting to engage in the struggle for transformation. Elisabeth Schussler Fiorenza's understanding of patriarchy and androcentrism provides the analytical tools for the work of transformation. Ecofeminism offers a spirituality which can sustain women engaged in the struggle for transformation.
