- Abstract
- This dissertation will demonstrate that preachers must restore biblical preaching by exposing the biblical truths faithfully and relevantly tot he listeners by holding onto the main idea of the text in the preparation and delivery of the expository sermon. If preachers are to engage the message of scripture to postmodern people effectively, they will need to critically assess the mistakes made by the American pulpit in responding to the postmodern challenges and also evaluate the postmodern world from a biblical perspective. Overall, the purpose of this paper is to motivate preachers to recognize the current postmodern challenges and influence with discretion and to urge them to restore their commitment to expository preaching by being faithful to the main idea of the text throughout an entire process of sermon preparation and proclamation.
