  • Guilt and shame: reflection on their presence in our worship at First Presbyterian church of Blue Lake, California
Abstract
  • Our prayers in worship and the order of our service can put an emphasis on guilt and shame. This project focuses on determining if and/or where these feelings occur. Traditional forms of worship use images of God that are masculine and prayers that are degrading to both men and women by focusing on guilt and shame. However, the message that John Calvin constantly reinforced is God's love for us. This project will survey the congregation regarding our service and will include time for a small group to compare and contrast our service with the order used by John Calvin.
