Abstract
  • The purpose of this ethnographic study was to determine the role of the female pastor's husband in the House of God Church Pentecostal Holiness denomination. Ten husbands of female pastors in the House of God Church were identified to define their role as the 'first gentleman.' The methodology was approached from a pastoral counselor's perspective. Strategies of brief counseling theory (Stone, 2001) were used to develop survey and interview questions for the participants. The husbands identified their role which produced qualitative responses that effect transformation in their lives as well as others, and addresses ecclesiology in the church for future generations.
