- Abstract
- This work presents a comprehensive model for new member assimilation which includes strategies for recruitment, orientation, and nurture. It is based on a theology of covenant evangelism. A central thesis of this work suggests that church membership is not simply a specific rite but is an ongoing covenantal relationship in a community of faith. Data gained from the research and used in conjunction with existing literature yields an assimilation model which enables new members to enter into the life of the congregation with greater acceptance of responsibilities and with greater awareness of the opportunities for discipleship in the world.
