Abstract
  • This lay training program is designed to strengthen marriages by giving greater exposure to marriage principles in a relational manner and providing a stronger support system during the initial adjustment period. It includes: criterion for selecting lay counselors, defining pastoral and lay responsibilities, identifying basic counseling procedures, defining roles of the husband and wife, developing the art of communication, resolving conflicts, managing finances, follow up procedures, and evaluations. Insights and principles were compiled into a training manual. Five couples were trained. The response of the engaged couples exceeded initial expectations mainly due to the relational and supportive method used.
