- The purpose of this project in ministry was to develop and implement a program of ongoing spiritual formation and group support for a group of pastors in the Greater Boston Baptist Association (Mass). The project was designed to contribute to the effectiveness of the ministry of the participating pastors by creating a caring, supportive community of peers. Chapters two and three examined the biblical and historical foundations. The biblical models of covenant and community were the primary foci. Sketches of several leading theologians were presented in order to understand how support systems in spiritual growth have functioned effectively at significant times in the history of the Christian church. Chapter four described the preparation for a implementation of the program. Data was gatherd through questionnaires and interviews. The group design and various options for continuing support in spiritual growth were presented. Chapter five evaluated the project and concluded that pastor's peer groups meet needs ranging from personal support to contributing to a healthy, ever-developing spirituality.
