Abstrait

The purpose of this project was to equip adult Sunday school teachers and leaders of Thompson Baptist Church, Smithdale, Mississippi, with pastoral care competencies. The pastor needed help administering pastoral care throughout the congregation as he could not provide adequate care to the entire congregation alone. Thus, Sunday school teachers and leaders received training in selected pastoral care competencies to enhance the ministry of the church as it continued to grow. I began by researching the field of pastoral care to identify essential pastoral care competencies. The congregation provided input regarding which pastoral care competences were essential needs of Thompson Baptist Church. With the competencies determined, I, as the pastor and project director, designed a training curriculum to teach the essential competencies to the adult Sunday school teachers and leaders. The project concluded with the equipping of adult Sunday school teachers and leaders in the competencies needed to carry out pastoral care through their classes.
