- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to make a critical survey of the army chaplaincy, identify major problems, and write a handbook for ministers of the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ (CC-CC) who may consider this career field. The study featured a historical sketch, recent controversy, CC-CC views, various opportunities in ministry found in the army chaplaincy. A conclusion was followed by an appendix which surveyed 1,000 Protestant army chaplains reference their attitude toward the army chaplaincy. The survey indicated that chaplains minister to families almost as much as their civilian counterparts. Most all chaplains felt they were meeting the spiritual needs of their community.
