  • Do lay preachers have biblical authority and congregational permission to have ongoing preaching ministries in their congregation? The project observed the effects of a shared stewardship of lay and professional preachers in one rural Baptist congregation. The professional preacher developed a ten-week curriculum for the training of lay preachers who then participated in the pulpit ministry of the congregation. The effects of that shared stewardship on themselves, the professional preacher and the congregation were observed through the use of personal journals, surveys and interviews. The shared stewardship of preaching strengthened the pulpit and other ministries of the congregation.
