Abstract
  • Character formation among young people can be enhanced in a positive way if universal truth based on God's Word is taught in the context of positive relationships. This study evaluates the methodology used in the delivery of a character-based program focused on universal principles in the context of relationships among public high school students at North Cobb high school in Kennesaw, Georgia. While not an exhaustive study of character education, this study explores a successful method of facilitating character development. Three research questions have guided this study: 1. What was the level of character in the target group at North Cobb high school at the beginning of the program? 2. How did the level of character change in the target group at North Cobb high school because of the program? 3. What was the quality of treatment given? The literature review focuses on the biblical basis of character development and the transference of truth from one generation to the next, as well as contemporary sources on the most effective ways to teach character development.
