  • The author undertook research to establish why relatively few adults participate in Christian education in the Church of Scotland. The research was undertaken by forming a focus group and issuing questionnaires. He establishes a number of reasons for the lack of participation and suggests possible ways forward which include a wider choice of courses and activities, a greater openness to the doubts and questions of church members, better use of visual media and better training of ministers in this field. He concludes by stating that a greater emphasis on adult Christian education could have considerable benefits for the local church.
