  • This thesis project surveys ancient mystagogy and five ancient examples of mystagogical preaching, as well as contemporary mystagogical thought and five presentday mystagogical homilies. Drawing conclusions from these, the author holds that preachers can compose powerful mystagogical preaching by combining life experience, Sacred Scripture, and elements of the liturgy (ritual words, symbols, or actions) in the Easter Season and throughout the Church Year. The author also provides a methodology for preparing a mystagogical homily. Finally, he proposes a format for a workshop for preachers on the topic.
