Abstract
  • This integrative paper is meant to bring together in a meaningful manner the results of study, practical experience, and reflection aimed at the defining of a way in which spiritual methods and resources available to the parochial clergyperson may be utilized in a responsible pastoral model. The paper describes learnings which indicate that the pastoral counselor, in particular, is able to utilize resources beyond the commonly accepted behavioral models, for the responsible practice of care-giving to those seeking his or her assistance. The places of prayer and spiritual disciplines in the pastoral model are explored, focusing particularly upon the practice of spiritual direction.
