Abstract
  • A Lutheran pastor can deepen the Christian life of congregational members through a disciplined prayer life by the creation of a devotional book for the congregation to use, drawing from Lutheran traditions. Three devotional guides were written for Gloria Dei! Lutheran Church to use from Advent through Easter. Thirty-five people were interviewed before and after the devotional books were used. The result was the discovery that the discipline of prayer creates a deeper hunger for God and awakens a call to be with God. The church would do well in perpetuating our spiritual legacy, the gift of prayer.
