- This project is a study of relationships between emerging Haitian immigrant congregations and sponsoring/supporting American Christian groups in Eastern Massachusetts. Primary research tools included questionnaries and interviews. Survey results indicate that a high degree of racism in established American congregations (both black and white) sometimes hinders developing relationships. Ingrained cultural perspectives are problematic. Some Haitians and some established American groups are making significant advances in learning from one another. The project suggests that further advances are possible in individual initiatives, local church involvement, denominational cooperation, and parachurch ministries.
