- This thesis presents both a scholarly and practical interpretation of spiritual gifts. Charisma is defined as 'God's grace that motivates and enables Christians to minister in God's power'. Romans 12:3-9 is the only list of 'spiritual gifts' that begins with the technical term Charismata. Distinction is made between 'offices' (Ephesians 4:11-12), 'manifestation of the Spirit' (1 Cor 12:7-11) and Charismata. The hypothesis, 'as Christians learn what their spiritual gift is, they will be freed and equipped for ministry' is supported with surveys and interviews with 21 members of St John's Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles. Common characteristics of the 'same gift' are incorporated into a questionnaire written to help other Christians discover their Charismata.
