Abstrakt

Journey theology details how the pastor of a local United Methodist Church led his congregation through a period of crisis and change of many kinds. The church and pastor became more biblically oriented, more open and authentic in personal relationships, and more collaborative in styles of leadership and ministry. At the heart of the book is the concept of a 'ministry of abandonment', which may be defined as a ministry in which the leader/pastor abandons traditional roles while at once training and encouraging laity to assume them. A story line from the pastor's personal life gives the volume dramatic tension and a 'novel-like' readability.
