Abstract
  • John Wesley dealt creatively and constructively with several major issues which concern Latin American theologians today. This dissertation deals particularly with Wesley's emphasis on the dignity of man, the possibilities of grace, total stewardship, and God's perfect love expressed through man. This doctrinal background was reflected in the social and political action which characterized John Wesley and the Wesleyan movement of the eighteenth century. The author researched Wesley's sermons, diary, letters and treatises, and read several textbooks on liberation theology, to discover similarities and contrasts. She concludes that total Christian stewardship is biblical and practical for helping today's suffering world.
