Abstract
  • This project proposes that contemplation and compassion are essential ministerial and priestly qualities. Changes in the Roman Catholic Church since Vatican II demand ministry based on both of these essentials. A spiritual director reflects prayerfully on the Word of God, finds words to express and respond to it, and models methods of entry into contemplation and compassion by establishing a dialogue. The project defines terms, articulates questions, and invites ongoing dialogue in a series of letters that invite creative and resourceful responses from readers.
