  • Because the preaching of God's Word is indispensable for the propagation of the gospel, it is crucial to communicate the truths of scripture clearly and relevantly. Biblical truth must be articulated in understandable and applicable conceptual language. The next generation of preachers are challenged to develop sermons that spiritually impact our contemporary audiences. A brief comparison of the Postmodern and Enlightenment eras is followed by communication principles and guidelines regarding clarity and relevancy. Selected Greek terms referring to the act of preaching and New Testament 'sermons' will provide insight into developing clear and relevant sermons. Finally, tools are presented which will engender clarity and relevance to a contemporary Canadian audience.
