  • This research hypothesized that the level of trust between the mentors and proteges in the treatment group would increase significantly more than the level of trust between the mentors and the control group in the bonding phase of a facilitated mentoring program for leadership development in a local church. The Specific Interpersonal Trust Scale (SITS) measured the levels of trust both before and after the mentoring program. The SITS scores failed to support the hypothesis; the scale was also faulty as a measurement tool. However, biographical sketches of the individual mentoring dyads showed the importance of close relationships of trust for an effective mentoring program.
