Abstract
  • This paper presents a 'how-to-do method' for decision making concerning the prioritizing of twelve roles for the mid-city United Methodist Church senior minister. The paper uses the Wesleyan quadrilateral and an analysis of the local church setting as a basis for establishing role priorities. The paper includes ten attributes which the writer considers essential for effective ministry. Senior ministers should take into account their strengths and weaknesses regarding these attributes in order to establish priorities in a realistic and practical manner. Finally, the paper describes five roles which the writer considers as priorities for a particular mid-city church.
