Abstract
  • This project was undertaken to investigate the current procedures for preparing a candidate for conversion to the orthodox Jewish community. A questionnaire was sent out to a large group of orthodox rabbinical courts and the data derived from this survey was used to determine the current practices. A program was then proposed, based on the author's personal knowledge and professional experience, to enhance the present procedure with a variety of experiences which followed the genuine traditions, yet were meaningful to the conversion candidate. The author also discussed how orthodox conversions differ from other denominations.
