- Abstract
- The hypothesis of this study is the feasibility of using biblical material (imagery) as a catalyst for bringing unconscious material to consciousness. The study briefly reviews the historical roots of unconscious material, gives a short overview of the use of unconscious material within the spirituality of Roman Catholicism, and shows through the use of image material recorded during directed retreats how biblical imagery can be a catalyst for raising unconscious material to consciousness. The results of this study illustrate the effectiveness of biblical imagery as an agent of integration. The conclusion shows the usefulness of biblical imagery in the individuation process.
