Abstract
  • The Church of the Nazarene needs a program which will indoctrinate initiates in the fundamental Christian beliefs, incorporate believers into the life and mission of the church and enable new converts to live distinctively Christian lifestyles in the midst of an increasingly secularized society. After a study of the historical and biblical catechetical methodologies, current research in adult learning theory and fundamental doctrine from a Wesleyan perspective, the author presents a catechetical instruction system which is designed for adults. The catechism is based upon an interactive and dialogical model of learning. Field testing demonstrates the viability of the project.
