Abstract
  • This project demonstrates ways that black churches can work with diverse organizations in order to empower urban neighborhoods, beginning with a case study of five black churches that share a networking model of ministry. Loving Hands, Inc, a community development corporation organized by Saint John African Methodist Episcopal Church (Birmingham, Ala) convenes a network of diverse community groups in eight weeks of sharing ideas, information, resources, and opportunities in an effort to transform Birmingham's Fountain Heights neighborhood.
