Abstract
  • This project inductively investigated the characteristics of Japanese leaders reproducing churches in Japan. Field research was conducted on over sixty churches that had reproduced at least three churches over a twenty-year period. Churches were first surveyed with a questionnaire and the six churches, that planted a total of sixty-two churches, were selected for in-depth interviews. These were purposively selected for their diverse areas, sizes, denominations and styles. Six primary and eight secondary leaders were interviewed. Qualitative analysis found six preliminary leadership characteristics: vision, faith, view of church, developing lay people, leading relationally, and practical implementation.
