- Abstract
- This project describes how a small inner city African American Presbyterian Church, in partnership with a wealthy suburban European American Presbyterian congregation, connect with the surrounding African American community in ways that provided needed resources, strengthened families, and motivated a small family church toward greater visibility, evangelism and outreach. The research methods used included a history of church and community, a neighborhood survey and an analysis of the church partnership between the two congregations, with an emphasis on race relations. The result was the development of a strategic plan for Garden Memorial Church and the development of programming for a Community Family Life Resource Center.
