Abstract
  • In northern Virginia today, affluence, success, transiency, education, growth, and individuation are prominent characteristics of the social and cultural context. These values provide themes for a contextual theology distinctive to the region. The paper looks at one northern Virginian congregation, which professes a classic, confessional theology. It concludes that the congregation's theology and ministry are contextualized. They are viewed as often congruent but also dissonant with the congregation's received tradition. Leaders are challenged to focus upon their essential obedience to the Word as they do theology and ministry in northern Virginia.
