- When churches with high self-esteems, autonomies and senses of their unique ministries enter yoked relationships, agreeing to only minimum points of cooperation, their yoke experiences will be more positive than those in yokes initially emphasizing greater cooperation and uniformity in worship and function. Using agape as an attitudinal guide for cooperation, each congregation reaffirmed its history and identity, adopted a purpose statement based on its resources and community needs, and ratified a minimum base for cooperation with its yoke partner. Evaluative pre- and post-project questionnaires and observations of the process did not confirm the thesis.
