Abstract
  • The author examined the leadership practices of a self-selected group of Filipino American pastors, as observed by the pastors themselves and ten each of their lay leaders, using the Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) of Kouzes and Posner. The observers rated their pastors fairly highly, except for a significantly lower rating on their 'challenging the process.' These congregations were forty percent smaller that the average congregation in the United States. The author attempted to show a possible relationship between weaker scores on 'challenging the process' and the lack of growth of these congregations.
