- Abstract
- The over-arching goal of this project is to clarify and improve the role of undergraduate Christian higher education in preparing students for successful cross-cultural ministry. The literature review researches the issues of attrition, competence, call, and learning. The author's qualitative research analyzes written, historical documents from and current interviews with the nine students who participated in Grace University's 1997 six-month missions training program in Mali, west Africa. The project underscores the power of experiential learning and demonstrates that Grace University's field-based training model significantly contributes to the development of core competencies necessary for successful cross-cultural ministry.
