- Abstract
- The impetus for this research was the need to build a conceptual framework for church leadership formation in urban South Asia with reference to New Life Assemblies of God, a megachurch in India. The ethnographic interviews with seventy-two prominent South Asian church leaders and the qualitative, phenomenological analysis of it yielded significant findings. Major conclusions include (i) the formation of God-dependent, Christ-like, culturally competent South Asian church leaders, (ii) relationship-oriented mentoring of these leaders within church-based heterogeneous small groups, and (iii) the strengthening of such leadership formation through mutual partnerships between the South Asian and the Western church.
