- The hypothesis was that a person's thinking and receptiveness toward forgiveness can be changed to the extent to which he or she is willing to recognize the need to forgive and to the extent to which he or she participated in a six week long forgiveness focus. The cognitive behvior method of psychotherapy was used. The hypothesis was supported in two ways: participants' understanding of forgiveness, worship and the sacraments was changed and those who both recognized a personal need to forgive and who participated in the workshops were more receptive toward forgiveness.
