  • Fifty-eight Labor/Delivery/Nursery nurses were self-selected to participate in a study of their emotional and theological responses to perinatal and neonatal death. They completed personal and professional history questionnaires and were interviewed about their responses to infant death. This project interprets the results from the viewpoint of Personal Construct Theory to develop a template--that is, a framework of questions that a pastoral caregiver may use when giving pastoral care to nurses dealing with infant death. Two case studies are included. The template is helpful, but not a panacea.
