Abstract
  • This project addressed resistance to seeking counseling. The research explored God's willingness to dialogue, His provision for a wonderful counselor and Adam and Eve's hiding from God. A review of relevant literature relating to resistance revealed gender, social stigma, self-disclosure, problem analysis, and the identity of the help source as factors related to resistance levels. A survey of 221 individuals from one church identified that reasons for resistance were consistent with findings of the literature review. A strategy for care ministry to address resistance was developed and professional counseling.
