Abstract
  • This thesis offers a comparison between the ministry of the Salvation Army officer and other servants of the word of God, especially with regards to the movement's roots in the Methodist church. The declining numbers of candidates to officership, in particular in Sweden, requires this study of the reasons behind the diminishing attraction to this ministry: preparation at the Army training college; subjects, teaching methods, officers' working conditions. The author has gathered suggestions of improvement in order to make officership more effective in meeting the spiritual and physical needs of people the Army officer is called to serve in the future.
