Abstract
  • The priest's identity as a preacher varies with personality, attitude, practices, and expectations. There are distinct preacher identities, and these can be determined as an outcome of a preaching survey. Data from a survey conducted among priests established three preacher identities: disciple, entertainer, and teacher. The study examines the formation needs for each identity while exploring pedagogics and methods, and presents a model for forming preachers using identity on the foundation that an understanding of preacher identity can result in better preaching. A preaching identity classification tool is one outcome and is presented as a method for making individual student assessments.
