Abstract
  • There are many components in healing of women survivors of childhood sexual abuse. None is more essential than shame. Survivors need help in moving out from trauma and humiliation to celebrate goodness and right to joy. After presenting some psychological and theological foundations of shame, this project explores various treatment modalities and presents combined treatment (individual and group therapy with the same therapist) as a powerful tool to identify and treat shame. Clinical data prove the effectiveness of this modality. The project offers suggestions for how the church can promote healing of survivors' shame.
