Abstract
  • This project is designed to help pastors and parish leaders understand how the process of communication works within organizations like their parishes. Current communications research and resources (new bells) are presented to enable parish ministers to develop communications strategies as a tool in ministry (new steeples). Chapter 1 explains the communications process of message-sending and message-receiving. Chapters 2, 3 and 4 focus on the three primary elements of that process: communicator, audience, and message. Chapters 5 and 6 discuss the mass media. The paper concludes with a theological perspective on the ministry of communications as an incarnational experience. This project also seeks to raise awareness among church leadership of the importance of well-planned communications strategizing to serve and proclaim the Gospel.
