Abstract
  • The thesis of this project is that Internet video-conferencing can enhance the Order of Elders by providing a clergy support group. The author examines the problems with clergy morale and pastoral identity, the Order of Elders in the United Methodist church, the Wesleyan theological background of gathering in groups, today's Internet culture, and the concepts of community and virtual community. Through pro-active research, the author created a clergy group meeting online, on a weekly basis, for study and mutual support. Based on evaluations, observation, and feedback, the author concluded that Internet video-conferencing can enhance the Order of Elders.
